New Jersey Probate Process
West Orange Probate Attorney
The probate process may seem confusing, but a West Orange probate lawyer can personally walk you through administering the estate and honoring your late family member's wishes as closely as possible. The Surrogate court in the county in which the decedent died will provide Letters of Testamentary if you are an executor or Letters of Administration if you are an administrator. Once the relevant legal document is issued by the court, you will need to collect the probate assets and evaluate them. After you have all of the probate assets, you will be responsible to pay any debts or taxes before distributing the remaining property to beneficiaries and heirs.
Before you can distribute inheritance to beneficiaries and heirs, however, it must be properly managed. Managing the property can take variety of forms, and my firm can provide you with seasoned legal advice on the types of management available for your unique situation. Additionally, you may need to notify the next of kin of the decedent about their passing. The Law Office of Alice Beirne can assist you throughout the entire process, from determining which assets go through probate to distributing the assets.
