About Your Essex County Probate Lawyer

Why did I become a lawyer? One reason was because my 10th grade history teacher told me I would probably make a pretty good one because I would never give up an intellectual argument. After graduating from Rutgers University in 1982, with a dual degree in Business Administration and English, I enrolled in Rutgers School of Law and found the law to be where I belong. I graduated from Rutgers School of Law, Newark, with Honors in 1985. I chose to become a litigator or trial attorney because it challenges me every day. The law is basically a finite set of rules that you apply to each individual case. No two cases are alike; each presents its own nuances, facts, benefits, and challenges. I take the tenacity I have had since the 10th grade and argue forcefully for my clients. There is nothing more satisfying then achieving a successful result for a client.

That being said, not every case can or should go to trial. The key to the representation I provide my clients is in knowing not only the strength and weaknesses of my client's case, but the needs of my client as well. I will listen to your goals and do my best to achieve them within the confines of your situation and the law.

I have litigated all types of cases, including:

In the last twelve years, I have focused primarily on estate litigation and workers' compensation. Estates and will contests are an especially sensitive type of litigation because often the person with whom you have a dispute may be a close relative. I recognize that and attempt to tailor my approach to each case with the client's needs in mind.

Experience You Can Trust

I have been litigating cases for over 30 years. I started in a large, prestigious law firm and worked in that litigation department for 11 years. I then moved to a mid-size firm, where I supervised other young attorneys in the litigation department. I then joined with another well-known litigator to form a small boutique practice in Bergen County. Since 2007, I have been a solo practitioner in my adopted home town of West Orange, where I live, and with my husband, have raised our three children.

I have been twice appointed by the Superior Court Chancery Division to serve as an administrator of a troubled estate. I am a guardian of a disabled relative. I practice in the Chancery Division of all the northern and central counties, including:

  • Essex
  • Bergen
  • Hudson
  • Morris
  • Passaic
  • Union
  • Middlesex
  • Monmouth
  • Ocean
  • Burlington
  • Somerset
  • Warren
  • Hunterdon
  • Sussex

I have had cases I litigated published in the New Jersey Superior Court Reporter. I serve in my community as the West Orange Zoning Board Attorney and Secretary to the Chamber of Commerce. I am past president and still active member of the West Orange High School Music Boosters, as well as past member of the West Orange Historic Preservation Commission and was the previous West Orange Public Advocate.
